Is anyone else having serious problems with this site? I can't edit the main page. Also, if you use the URL http://wikihost.org/wikis/academe/wiki/german_2008-2009/ (with a trailing backslash) instead of http://wikihost.org/wikis/academe/wiki/german_2008-2009, you get a "moved permanently" error with a link to the same error-causing URL. It might be time to switch to Scratchpad after all.

Can the discussion page be edited so that the newest entries are at the top of the page?

I'm getting close to opening a new German wiki elsewhere. The inability to edit pages at random times is starting to drive me crazy.

The note about the University of Illinois at UC is now moved here from the main page:

Sad experience tells me that you will find similar surprises with most positions advertised in any given year. Let's keep malicious gossip where it belongsi.e. right here. I've wondered if there shouldn't be a section for programs that seem (in interviews) to really have their act together, and another section for programs that seem worse than hopeless. I know I could have named a few in both categories after last year...

I agree. Why be so secretive? Nobody is going to trace your IP address back to you. If there is a reason to "beware" that particular department, at least inform us as to why.

I'm not able to edit the page so that the updates are in a list underneath the name of the institution. Anybody know why?

Since the page is not letting us put updates on the next line, I've italicized them so that it's still possible to see them quickly if scrolling. Any objections?
