USS Cox (NCC-78612-A) is a Sovereign-class multi-purpose explorer/battleship.

The Cox has been commissioned in 2376 as a second starship to bear the name and launched shortly after (stardate 56845.6). She was named after Ensign Michelle Cox, a nurse aboard USS Pegasus and USS Yorktown who has died tragically not long before. Since entering active service in 2377, USS Cox was operating in Alpha and Delta Quadrants mostly as part of Task Force 38.

2377-2378 she was performing her shakedown cruise under Captain J.R. Crichton (XOs: Lieutenant Commander Eloniel, Lieutenant Commander Andrew J. Hunter). After completing the cruise, Captain Crichton retired, passing down the ship to newly-promoted Captain Hunter.

In 2380 the Cox was selected as a command vessel for TG Delta under Commodore Hunter.

A beautiful ship, the Cox was ill-fated, as much as her CO, and a few times had to return to Starbase 900 for repairs or personnel reassignment. However, her current CO, Captain Wilk believes those trouble belong to the past.

The Cox is the ship of Captain James S. Wilk since 2380.

Additionally, in 2381, she became the flagship of TG Charlie.

The ship's dedication plaque contains the quote from Shakespere's "Henry V": Once more unto the breach dear friends...
