Information about the server can be seen to the right. You will need to copy the full url to join, it is currently http://www.minecraft.net/play.jsp?server=5b8d0a3f6c81168586cd5531b52495f7
If you have been trying to join with your browser, you will likely have trouble loading the map, or it will crash after a few minutes. The map is big and browsers can't handle it well.
We recommend downloading the World of Minecraft client to play on our server. The client itself may still crash with an out of memory error, again due to the map size. Check our Client Setup page for a fix to this problem, or help with WoM in general.

Ship to ship combat by having a ship on each server, and phaser damage being sent between them. If a programmer wants to help make this happen, our server McLawl is now open source!
Zero gravity type blocks that act like water, but spread in all directions and suffocate the user.
We also need some programming help making portals persistent so that we can import new maps without messing up the transporters
Backups are made often. Logs are kept. The server is very powerful, please dont play with the advanced commands. If you have a question ask, we are open to new ideas. The admin is swax. Have fun!
What does it mean, "I have to be 11"?
How do I get promoted?
Everybody on our server has a rank that gives them certain abilities. When you join you are ranked as a guest. Guests do not have building rights on our server. This is to prevent problems with griefers. If you want to build you must be promoted to a higher rank by an operator. The next rank is that of builder, who has building rights as the name suggests.
If you try and build you will get an unhelpful error message declaring that you need to be 11. This doesn't refer to age, it just means you need to have a higher rank. (All ranks have a number related to them, which is why this message comes about)
Operators in the server have their name color-coded in red. You should ask them for assistance. If none are about, you can post in this forum thread if you want to help. Be sure to include your minecraft username.
I'm lost!
It's SO HUGE!
Where the heck am I?
How do I get outside
The ship is difficult to navigate at best. As this is a classic server, we do not have the benefit of signs for navigation. It is recommended to use the World of Minecraft client as the flying an noclip abilities make exploring much easier than traversing the ship on foot, see more about it in Client Setup.
We have come up with a deck coding system to identify the deck you are on. Find the nearest turbolift, they all have the color-coding on them. Turbolifts allow you to move around the ship vertically and horizontally. They have iron floors and the vertical shafts are filled with water.
You spawn on the bridge. If you want to get outside the turbolift on the bridge leads up and out onto the hull. Again, using the WoM client is easier for exploring.
You can also teleport to other players using a server command. Type /tp playername to teleport yourself to the player in the server with that name.

When decorating a room be creative. Think of it's function, what might be inside it, and then build. There are many examples around the ship of creative design.
Walls vary depending on the room or area of the ship. Hallway walls are colored sand/obsidian/sand. Turbolift walls are sand/sand/sand. Some such as utility, storage, engineering, and escape pod walls are grey/grey/grey. Jeffries tube walls are obsidian/obsidian/obsidian.
Did you use a map editor?
Is this the same one from the YouTube videos?
How big is it?
How long did it take to make?
You are probably familiar with the original video posted by halnicholas/halkun. It consists of the blueprints for each deck, roughly cut out and imported into the game.
The ship is mostly to scale. It is slightly larger than it's canon length so decks can be rounded to 4m tall each. The scale is roughly 1.22:1, making the in-game ship almost 800m. It takes up an area of 800x600x200 (with a little room to spare) and it almost 4 million blocks.
The blueprints were made some time ago by Ed Whitefire. Ed is a structural engineer and currently works in aerospace. In 1987 he met with the designers of the show and worked for 2 years on the blueprints taking into account every detail, as well as constantly collaborating with the producers of the series to get everything right. The blueprints were never published due to business and legal mix-ups, but eventually they were put on the internet here.
A server was briefly set up by halkun, but nothing came of it due to his work schedule.
swax and RoosterDragon took it on themselves to set up their own server. swax hosted a server and rooster provided a basic map import. This one had the annotation removed (the floating cruft you can see on the original video was the blueprint annotation) and a script filled in the gaps in height. You can check this forum thread for some pictures of that import.
The server went up at the start of October 2010.
The forums were set up by halkun, and several people had started helping out. The blueprints for each deck were cleaned up by forum members so they looked good (as opposed to the rough cut imports) and the floors were color-coded. Each deck was imported over time into the server.
Other features, like the hull and details on the hull, are also imported. The Omen map editor allows you to alter minecraft maps in the classic format. So the details are created in a program like Photoshop, then added to the map level via Omen so they show up on the server.
When decks are imported, only the floor exists. So walls are built and rooms are filled out.
Additionally, the nacelles were not included on the blueprints, so they were missing for some time. Instead they were imported from a 3d model to provide the rough shape. The detail and internals were then added manually.
So whilst the skeleton seen in the original video is a few hours work, the whole ship is looking to be many months.
If you're interested in joining up, hang around on the server and get to know some of the builders and the ship. Then checkout the shipyard forums where we coordinate. Get to know the people there. Also checkout the blueprints and figure out how you can use those to get around the ship.
You should then be ready to ask for build rights. We'll probably ask you find something on the ship from the blueprints as an initiation. The first thing to do is build yourself a room and checkout the todo list to see what needs to be done next.

The Ship
External View (v34)
The ship is being constructed based on a set of blueprints by Ed Whitefire. These are cleaned up and imported into the game to use a a basis for each deck. Other features like the hull, aztec, windows etc are also added via map editing. The rooms for the ship are built in-game based on the floor plans and blueprints.
