Prince Brand

Brand is a passionate and highly intelligent man. He is very creative and with that goes the classic artist's temperament in that he is very given to being moody - like Corwin in many ways. Brand has not really been given the attention he deserves through being the youngest of the red-heads and right in the middle of the larger Amber family. Consequently, he grew up with a need to prove himself: a need which diminished over the years as he came into his powers. He and Fiona have a love-hate relationship which can be very public and stormy. Bleys often finds himself in the role of peacemaker when this happens. This makes Brand's relationship with Fiona very fiery. When it's good, it's great. When it's bad, it reaches new depths.

Brand has a similar sense of burden to Fiona, which means that he often takes too much on himself and winds up in trouble because he tries not to rely on anyone but himself. In his best moods, he is incredibly creative and insightful, and in his worst moods, he can be very hurtful and destructive to those around him.

Brand as a Parent

Brand can be a wonderful parent when he's in the right mood and that's the key. He can be an incredibly patient and forgiving teacher and parent, knowing how to awaken the child's own creative potential and intelligence. In the wrong mood, he can be quite horrible and hurtful but then he'll make up for it by walking through the door with the best most desirable gift in the whole world and all will be forgotten. He is very encouraging in his child's creativeness, regardless of the field they choose. Unlike Fiona, he allows the child's curiosity to lead them, to have experiences and through those experiences to discover who they are. He is not very structured or organized but teaches his child to be led by desire and what interests them. This is not to say he cannot be organized or disciplined about the things that really catch his drive and attention, and he will expect no less of his own child when they choose to focus on a particular subject. Brand can be a very good partner to his child as he or she matures providing you catch him in a good mood. Any child of Brand learns how to read his moods, when to approach and when to keep some distance, when to bring up certain topics and when to avoid them.
