CFUD is an application-based roleplay. Apps are voted on by players in the comm
campfuckuvote. While the apping process is sometimes stressful and often subject to discussion of how it might be conducted in the best manner possible, it has become an integral part of CFUD culture. People have their own apping
stories and
methods and
superstitions. People gather to work on apps together! There is collective, generalized spazzing in the IRC chan of "OH GOD I'M NOT FINISHED YET"! And then more spazzing when voting is over and people reveal their new characters! It's kind of like a party. Just with bonus gnashing of teeth and rending of garments.Camper applications for characters aged 21 and under are accepted once per month for a 12-hour window. Counselor applications for characters aged 22 and older occur approximately twice per year for two-hour long windows. The applications are put up to be voted upon in batches and require at least 70% "In" to be accepted. In the interest of fairness, all applications are posted as anonymous submissions and discussion of the appers' identities is against the rules until their particular voting round is closed.
App dates, once announced, are noted in the
CFUD profile. There is a list of the
official rules, as well as an official
voting/apping FAQ.A
Very Long Apping Guide was created by a player and is a very helpful for jumping into the deep end of this process, where a lot of trends have developed but aren't necessarily set in stone. One of the most helpful tips for apping (particularly for your first app) is taking a look at previous apps to see how voting tends to go. Thanks to a couple of ~wonderful~ players (whose names are being withheld to protect their reputations against charges of insanity), we have up-to-date archives of past app rounds.
cfudapparchiveHere, you'll find a summary of sorts of each voting round, present and past. You'll find the percentages of each app in a batch in a round, the apped series and character, and a link to the batch itself. There's a little "introduction post" at the top of the journal with how to navigate your way around it. cfudapparchive is updated after the last batch in a round closes, so we're relatively sure we'll never fall behind with that one.
cfappitryThis is where you can get your apps as organized by series, then by character. In addition to the information you can get in cfudapparchive, we also have the journals listed for the apps that got in (if we were able to find the journal). cfappitry is typically updated after cfudapparchive has been, though some newer journals will often be missing until all reveals are done. Again, for your convenience, cfappitry has its own little introduction post on the front page.
