This is your first post ever in CFUD, where you're going to introduce yourself to the camp. Don't have any idea how you're going to manage this? Well, you can first look at past successful intro posts and talk to your new campmates about getting help, if you need it. Campers usually arrive against their will or just completely at random, and counselors, having signed on, usually arrive scheduledly, by the so-called "main gate" or unexplained methods.
Typically, each camper starts out with a "Starter Pack" when they join camp. This is not required, it's just a slowly dying tradition. The starter pack typically consists of two things:

*Laptop. These are typically, and much to the dismay of their owners, sentient, and are fond of posting badfic about their owners on the camp-wide net. They have internet access, but no porn access. Shame. (Laptops are how you supposedly make posts to the community from in-camp, so everyone gets one of these. How they all use it is another matter altogether.)
*Shotgun. This is just handed out so that you can retaliate offensively against the zombies, who seem to be thinning out recently anyways. If your camper is either already packin' heat (or some form of offensive weaponry), cannot hold the shotgun (Example: sentient tree), or is too damn stupid to use the shotgun (surprisingly common), they can either get the shotgun and trade it off to another camper, or not get it at all.

Counselors typically bring all their stuff with them, and thus commonly do not get a starter pack.


If you aren't assigned a cabin at first, just set up in the mess hall. The loudspeaker will eventually announce the latest arrangement. Maybe not. Who knows?

If you aren't assigned a cabin at all, feel free to go to pretty much whatever cabin you like with a free bunk and a matching gender, or construct your own.
