"Sticky" Journal Posts

aka how to keep one (or more) posts at the top of your journal.

This is actually pretty easy. Simply put, LJ doesn't arrange journal entries in the order they're posted but in order of the date stamps. And the date stamps can be changed to anything at any time.

At present the top post on my journal is dated 9/16/06 (the post was actually made in July, btw), and I want it to stay at the top.

As long as I have "Entry is Backdated" checked I can change the date of that entry to whatever I want. Say, 9/16/07.

Then, even if I make a new post the "sticky" entry stays at the top.

I can also "future-date" entries when posting them. As long as "Entry is Backdated" is checked, they'll stay at top.
