An urban legend formulated around Astranaar about ten thousand years ago when the Whisperleaf Family first arrived in the Ashenvale town, The Whisperleaf Wrath was a favorite legend among night elves in that area for thousands of years. Many wars, the Sundering, the second coming of the Burning Legion and other drastic events however plucked it from the memories of the local townsfolk.

When the Whisperleaf family moved into Astranaar after the Sundering, they didn't seem to be anything out of the oridinary about them. Yet months passed and stories began to circulate concerning the family. These stories always had slight changes to them like folk tales, but all them centered around a central theme: Wrath. Hidden wrath to be exact. Each story told of some member of the Whisperleaf family overwhelming a powerful opponent with a sudden burst of rage. It is said that each member of the family has a 'hidden rage' in which the Whisperleaf will gain power from it.

This story seems to be true in Therista Whisperleaf, once an Armswoman, she became a Fury Warrior(or a Berserker) after a Troll Berserker, named Mahka'jor Spearstrider took a fatal blow for her in the Battle of Mt. Hyjal from one of the Burning Legion's Dreadlords. Therista's poor performance in Mt. Hyjal made her believe that she needed to change her training specialization and therefore, focused on her rage rather than her weapons. It has proven to have made her far more effective as a warrior than before Hyjal. That is the power of the Whisperleaf Wrath.

Tales of Anwen Whisperleaf and Tethras Whisperleaf were lost in recent times and Slyrae Whisperleaf seems to have yet to undergo this process.
