Welcome to the Americans Elect wiki!
This is the homepage, and you can say what you feel needs to be said, where anybody can find it and do something about it, without needing to wait for those stuffy AE moderators to get around to seeing your idea!
Our mission is to nonpartisanally collect all possible opinions on all possible policies that might help resolve the Issues, do polls (to be added later) to see which policies are liked the most, then compact them into an optimal Platform, supported by our participants, and get it displayed on the AE website, in hopes that the constituents will nominate a candidate that follows the platform closely.
Please note: Americans Elect does not have a platform, nor will it adopt one, as AE is nonpartisan. However, we can nominate a candidate through AE that follows the platform.
Here's how the site works. At the top of every page will be a short synopsis of the content of the page. Below that will be a list of reference links for anybody who wants to read them; if you find a neat website, add it! By all means.
Below that, in the section labeled "Proposals", will be a list of user suggestions for improvement, each with a corresponding discussion. You can add or edit as many of your suggestions as you want.
Finally, there'll be a list of internal links from within this wiki, as a reference to other stuff related to the topic on each page. Go ahead and add whatever you want.
You can refer to this page if you're curious about the wiki syntax, and we have a list of useful tips and tricks here.
Finally, please take a minute to look through our 'code of ethics', here.
Here's a list of our top level pages on The Issues, where you can make suggestions for new elements of the Platform and discuss them:
Education
Energy
Economy
Environment
Reform
Here's a list of our pages on The Candidates, where you can debate the merits and de-merits of anybody you come across. If you don't see your personal favorite here, go ahead and create a new page! Make sure to reference it here, too.
Barack Obama
Mitt Romney
