My experience with Social Networks was great. This was before the recent editor switch, but my understanding is that things are about the same, or quicker now.
It only took us about 6 weeks to get our first reviews back. Then we turned around our R&R quickly, and we were accepted within a week. (Thinking back on the process now, it may have been a "Conditional Accept" rather than an R&R, but either way they were fast!) The only downer was that it took more than a year to actually get into print. Supposedly this is improving, since they cleared the backlog of articles they had stacked up with a few thicker than normal issues. The good thing even with this problem though was that Elsevier (the publisher) has a "Publish Ahead of Print" section so that it was available online within only a few weeks after being accepted despite taking a while to actually be in print.
