Arie

Name: Dame Arie Scavone Xanthippe
Position: Knight Errant
Age: 23, Born August 23rd 4985

Description:

Arie Scavone is really a rather short young woman, coming to not a great deal over five foot in height, and with a thin, wiry build. Her skin is a light shade of coffee brown, with darker eyes of the same colour and jet black hair that has been tightly wound into a mass of thin braids, a touch more than shoulder length and gathered behind her head in a single bang. Thin and sharply defined eyebrows a combined with a fine boned, triangular face to be rather striking in a severe manner, though she does not look like she could be more than twenty, a fairly fresh looking scar traces a pale line across her right cheek, the lower portion of her face obscured by the bevor plate of her armour, the headset of a squawker currently worn down about her neck.

She is currently clad in a diminutive suit of hard used articulated plate, dull green plates of carefully shaped and angled high impact plastic providing complete coverage down to the fingers of her gauntlet, showing signs of dozens of scrapes, burns and gouges though all have been well repaired and reenameled with the dull matt green. The left shoulder pauldron bears the Trident of the Triumvirate, while the right carries the crescent moon and star of House Xanthippe, both have the insignia of a field marshal picked out in steel.

Worn atop the armour is a webbing rig about the waist and shoulders bearing ammunition and utility pouches in addition to a securely clipped in place fusion torch and a squawker, the leads for the headset leading into the armour and a prezzel switch easily accessible at the left shoulder. An assault shield generator is visible amongst the clutter plugged in to the bandoleer of a fusion pack while the belt about her waist supports a variety of weapons. A shocker broadsword is present upon her right hip in a metal reinforced black leather scabbard, upon the left is an Alembic blaster pistol in a padded holster, a foot long dirk sheathed just behind it. Additionally she carries a diamond shaped shield of dull green armour plastic the same hue as her armour, again heavily used but then fully repaired. Her right hand is not protected by a gauntlet, and does not look as if it needs it, clearly artificial, a cunningly constructed and articulated facsimile of glossy grey armoured ceramsteel.

Brief History:

Arie arrived upon Vargo as an eighteen year old minor house knight, the fifth child and third daughter of her mother Speaker Shaundra, and quickly established herself a reputation as being short fused and dangerous. Appropriately she then swore to the service of the late Duke Alvaro of the Hazat and served as one of his military officers. Barely more than a year later however, and never having led in battle, she was unexpectedly promoted from lieutenant to full colonel, serving as a commander in the First Okar War where she began to establish a reputation for herself as an able strategist.

Further events transpired, Duke Alvaro's successor Viscount Devante granted her administration of the village of Faro, but then following the spectacular events of his fall and accusations of treachery against his vassals she resigned her position in his armies and her fief.

A few days later she was sworn to Viscount Iskander of the Al-Malik as the lady colonel commander of his armies and sharifa (baronet) of Butan. After the admiral gained the position of Lord Protector Arie became Lady Marshal of Vargo, her fief now the rich baronetcy of Urupla in the lower Santiam.
Serving as one of Iskander's chief vassals she has since acted as the commander of his armies in the field, coordinating the shaky alliance of Triumvirate, Hawkwood and Hazat during the Okar War, and commanding the troops in the field in countering the recent Imanduran Invasion. Notably despite having lost her right arm at the Second Battle of Haina and a reputation more as a strategist than inspiring leader, she has won every battle where she has taken the field.

Though diminutive, Arie is known to be one of the more dangerous personal combatants upon Vargo, in every instance leading from the front of her soldiers to normally murderous effect in addition to having a string of successful and highly public duels on record.

More recently Arie stormed into an 'unmentionables party' being held by the Lord Protector Iskander, expressing her disgust that he would hold such an event at such a time before she resigned her titles and offices, declaring knight errantry.

Associates:

Al-Malik

Iskander - Iskander was Arie's liege, and was a trusted friend at least before her recent dramatic resignation.

Haroun - Arie's former subordinate as Commander of Fort Paloma, her perhaps superior as vizier of her liege Lord Iskander. Arie regards him as a friend of sorts at least and feels she owes him a debt of thanks for his bravery (and injuries) in helping rid her fief of a certain giant acid toad monster.

Sauda - Arie does not really know Sauda, though the few conversations they have had incline her toward liking the woman.

Hazat

Devante - Arie was somewhat 'inherited' by Devante when he assumed the deceased Alvaro's position, she got on fairly well with him initially, but then quit his employ hastily following the debacle at the Conclave of Peers after Hazat troops entered the council chamber. Since his return she has worked alongside him in the Okar and in repelling the Imanduran invasion, but is known to not trust him.

Santiago - Arie had a long running and rather scandalous affair with Santiago, at the time not 'Sir' Santiago, and was perhaps instrumental in him gaining his knighthood against his protests. The relationship then cooled markedly, but with his recent return to the planet they seem to at least still regard each other as close friends.

Hawkwood

Michael - Once close friends, Arie and Michael have fought alongside each other and saved each other's lives on many occasions. However despite a repeat of this upon the fields north of Haina the political rift between Arie's former liege and the Lord of the Southern Reaches left any relationship strained.

Caius - Perhaps the cause of much of the rift between Arie and Michael, Caius' attempt to seize control of the Triumvirate while Iskander was offworld suffered a fatal flaw when he found it difficult to declare martial law against the wishes of the commander of the military.

Decados

Kosar - Acquaintance more than anything else, he along with Arie took part in rescuing a trio of nobles who had fallen into the hands of Antimonists in the central desert. She has a great deal of respect for the Lord Colonel's ability in battle at least following him acting as her second in command during the battle of Dulahan Spur.

Li-Halan

Euan - An occasional acquaintance, they have not spoken frequently though Arie was instrumental in 'helping' (pushing) him with his first act as Lord Justice in arresting the members of the VCG accused of murdering a priest. She also saved him from antimonists who had captured him on an ill fated quest.

Guilds

Porter - Arie's predecessor as Lord Marshal, the two are very different. Apparently however Arie respects him no small amount despite on one occasion not long after her arrival on Vargo having tried to murder him in public.
