Guy Ritchie has a lot to answer for. He made Cockney Gangster films far too er.. commonplace? Well he made some good ones then other people copied and made lots more of them. This happens to be one of them. Only this time they opt to set it in the past! Cunning. Or not. As the case may be.

So this cockney geezer leaves home and delivers a package to some pub in Spain. He gets involved in the gangster lifestyle of trafficing drugs and shooting people. And swearing a lot too. Some stuff happens with people falling out and losing everything. Lots of 80s music plays throughout every scene of the film. It ends. Without ever really doing a great deal.

The formula is very tired and it makes no attempt to revive in any way whatsoever. The dialogue is certainly quite dull indeed and the amount of 80s music in it seems purely there to keep reminding you that it is indeed set in the 80s. It is a very bland experience overall. It has one or two good moments but nothing that sets the pulse going. It doesn't specifically turn you off in ways like The Island does but does nothing that should make you want to see the film.

Watch it on TV later if you're really a big fan of these gangster flicks. Otherwise just avoid it.

4/10
