Prince Corwin - Remembered
Corwin was extremely self-involved and moody, and the least stable of his siblings other than Brand. He was known to be extremely generous to those who showed him loyalty and respect; the fate of others was inconsequential to him. He was known for his excellent swordsmanship although not on a level with his brother, Eric, which some say is down to the fact that Eric actually practiced at it, unlike Corwin who seemed to feel the world owed him his brilliance. Corwin up until his disappearance was also unreliable at Court and often absent, so goodness knows what Oberon saw in him, but apparently Oberon saw something because he was a favorite - for a while. Corwin was tough and a survivor - a trait which all three of Faiella's children have to some degree but which Corwin had in abundance. Unlike his brother Eric, he lacked the ability to direct his energies and realize his goals, so he did a lot of things not very well - for example, as well as being a capable swordsman, he was also known for a phase of writing songs and ballads which did, in fact, catch on in Amber and some of which are still highly popular though Corwin's interest in them diminished and all but disappeared before he did. Corwin's problem was that he lacked focus because so much of his focus was directed toward his older brother, Eric. He and Eric were always highly competitive but they took it to levels that got even the Amber Royal family talking. Corwin liked to challenge Eric at whatever Eric was doing at the time, but Corwin always lost because he was just not as focused and more easily distracted.Although no love was lost between him and Eric, Corwin was known to have a soft-spot for Deirdre who can seemingly always reach him even when he was in one of his moods. If anyone could focus him, Deirdre could. He was very thick-skinned, both literally and figuratively, but another of his weak spots was his complete inability to back down in the face of overwhelming odds - in fact, overwhelming odds were often like a red-rag to a bull for Corwin so it's amazing he survived as long as he did. If someone, particularly Eric, told him he couldn't do something then off he would go. Like Brand, Corwin had the ability to make a lot of his family uneasy in his presence, so it was somewhat surprising that he hit it off with Random - if Corwin dishing out the damage and Random taking it can be seen as hitting it off - even so, their 'friendship' was not particularly strong but more about convenience for both of them. Perhaps it happened because Random could give as good as he got, perhaps because both were a little on the wild-side.
Corwin as a Parent
As a parent, Corwin is absent and has left behind only his memories. If he had a hand in his child's upbringing before he disappeared then he'd still be pretty absent from the picture - at least until the child got old enough to be interesting which means old enough to like what Corwin likes and follow in his footsteps. Corwin often tried to buy himself out of parental shortcomings but took an interest in his child if they were interested in him and what he was doing. If not, then any interest Corwin took would be hard work for him and he'd show it. With that said, Corwin would take a child under his wings and teach him or her, the many arts of survival and under-handed tactics that he knew of. Above all, like his full siblings, he believed in doing whatever it took to survive - except where Eric was concerned and then that all went out the window in short order.Corwin in Game
From FightClub"I see no point denying it any longer. I'm making this up as I go along, which it seems to me, is pretty much what I do anyway," he smiles at the irony, "memory loss or not."
