Prince Caine

Caine is a pragmatist. He always explores his options so he can decide which option best matches his purpose in a given situation. He is known for his political acumen, and diplomatic and negotiation skills out in the Golden Circle in developing trade agreements in Amber's favor. He comes into and out of Amber frequently and he has a very well-known reputation there even for a family member (all family members are well-known simply because they are royalty).Within Amber, we can't say that he is particularly well-liked, perhaps respected with a tinge of fear might be a better way of stating how the general populace regard him.

Caine's involvement as an Admiral with the Navy is central to how he is seen by his family. He is involved in creating and protecting the trade routes across the sea with Gerard, his brother, but Caine's strength is rather in the negotiation aspects and he is always on the lookout for the best deal. Depending on which side of the table you sit, he is either a very canny diplomat and keen study of human behavior, or very well-versed in matters of deceit, treachery, and manipulation of others. Perhaps the truth is a little of both. To relax, Caine enjoys good wine and wenching as much as any of his brothers and he certainly knows how to party.

Caine as a Parent

As a parent, Caine is a rough and tumble Dad. He is around regularly although with absences while he is away at sea. When he is there, he is not emotionally distant but very present for his children. He balances discipline with affection. As the child grows, Caine involves them in his business, perhaps taking them on trips with him. As the child matures, they begin to realize at some stage that everything Caine does, including the fun and sport they have together is hardly ever without some deeper purpose in order to teach his child something. Caine fosters competency in a child and holds competency in any field in high regard.
