  • Concept - LordObi is a mercurial trickster who enjoys travel and sampling the widerange of people he encounters in Shadow. He's served as a messenger for the court, traveling the shadowpaths through the GoldenCircle and where ever his wanderings led him when not on duty. Obi has taken a personal interest in his father's shadow of origin, and due to the time difference and his Amberite prowess is regarded as Eshu, messenger of the gods. Family is a priority for Obi, but he's not taken a wife since his DaKarai passed, over a hundred years ago for him and near three centuries in ShadowUzoma. He's devoted to his mother, PrincessDeirdre, and when in Amber goes out of his way to spend time with her.

  • Working history - Born in Uzoma, he lived with his father much of his life after his mother returned to Amber although she visited often. He grew to his majority there, married Dakarai who passed in childbirth along with his son. Inherent in Igbo tradition is the belief that a man is truly a man only if he can provide for and defend his family. Children, family, and community are the essence of Igbo traditional values. The loss of the first two took the third from him as rivals in the tribe spoke of the gods' displeasure with Obi. He took it upon himself to leave the village and traveled extensively, until he met his mother, who had heard of his tragedy. They returned to Amber, where Obi immediately secured his birthright and continued his travels. He served as a Royal Herald and perhaps a page to one of his Uncles? Currently? I don't know what his current kicker is... Liz and I can work out our relationship as cousins/siblings once we have a better timeline in place.

  • Physical description - played by Will Smith, Ht: 18.5 hands, Wt: 14 stone, Hair/Eyes: Brown/Brown, Facial tattoos? I think Shadow lies for him and when outside of Amber, he has tribal markings of some sort. I'm still investigating this, it's just color anywho... Age: I had thought ~150, but as Deirdre's kid and not Corwin's I could ratchet that down, and still keep my mythos in Uzoma alive by bumping the time ratio up.

  • Trump description - "A lanky man stands at a crossroads near the edge of a wood, his skin the same warm tones of the earth beneath his bare feet. From his ear hangs a brilliant red feather. In his right hand he holds a walking stick of black and white bearing stylized red eyes. His own dark eyes match his hair and the smile is at once both humorous and perhaps a bit cruel."

  • Heraldry, Colors and Symbols -Argent, a feather notched gules, White(or silver) and red, often offset by the Faiellan black... Eshu's staff, (as seen in the Trump description) I don't know that it does anything at the moment.

  • Prospective points breakdown... snipped as the GMs don't want full disclosure.

You see how concerned I am with the others seeing my character sheet... It speaks to the maturity of the players as much as anything that I had it here before...

GM-Karen: I'm really enjoying reading about Obi.
Kris: great
GM-Karen: I'm going to write to you later, but we like
the concept of Obi becoming a page to...
GM-Karen: Eric. If that sounds like something you'd
like to do with the character?
Kris: yeah, I'm fine with that... in fact, when
originally writing that bit it was my first idea
GM-Karen: Then I'll email it so Jim can see it too.
You've had some great ideas for Obi...
Kris: leaves Obi's loyalties torn early on... but,
if we're mixing with canon, might be a reason/opening for
his mother's escape
GM-Karen: Well, that leads me to ask...do you have
any definite idea what his relationship with his mother will
be like?
Kris: I was hoping it would be good
Kris: based on your write up, I think she was
the most attractive parent you guys wrote
GM-Karen: Yes, I think you're right. :-)
Kris: if he's even a century under his belt, he
understands why she wasn't always there for him as a child,
I see her visiting when she could, but with the time
differential, by the time he was married and had lost the
wife and child, only 7 years had passed relatively for her
GM-Karen: I like that too...
GM-Karen: it works to give him tragedy in his life
GM-Karen: but Deirdre goes out of her way to find
him and explain what happened from her pov so they can
forge a good relationship out of the tragedy...
Kris: yeah, I kinda liked it... and that's what I
was seeing
GM-Karen: I read you and I think it works well
especially for Deirdre.
Kris: so, now she's a son that she wants to get
to know, she instructs him enough to get him on the Pattern
and Dworkin shows with Trumps... He's learning that his
20-some years at that time are nothing compared to most
people in and about Amber, so throwing himself into a role
in Amber, messenger/page learning and putting Uzoma
behind him for the moment... yeah... I like it
Kris: so is he currently Eric's page, or is that a
former job?
GM-Karen: Well, a page would turn into a squire after
a while.
GM-Karen: You're free say whether you still have that
job, or say it's in the past...either way it gives you a
relationship with Eric.
GM-Karen: You'll need to think about whether it was a
good or bad relationship!
GM-Karen: Oh, and as for the Pattern walking and
trumps scene, I'll run that past Jim before we say definitely.
Kris: what age works for you guys?
Kris: wrt Powers, of course...
GM-Karen: We'll probably need to disuss this.
GM-Karen: I need to go out for a class right now, but
with your permission, I'll send this to Jim...and answer
some of your questions later. :-)
