Even when riding or sailing, Obi carries his staff with him. He's adept at using it as a makeshift weapon is is often seen carrying no other. The black and white represent the duality of his nature and the eyes, well... Obi would tell you that it's because they look cool, but the natives of ShadowUzoma would explain that Eshu is seen as sitting at the threshold, guarding the many doors and roads which make up the human journey through life. As the keeper of the crossroads he is all-seeing and the eyes are a remembrance of that.
