Kyon

Call me Ishmael - no, don't, but much like Ishmael, I feel like I'm being dragged across the ocean by an insane captain in search of a gigantic white whale, and it's only a matter of time before the ship we're sailing on is destroyed.

Nagato Yuki

A cute girl who's almost never seen without a book. It's easy to forget she's in a room, and is often regarded as a clubroom accessory. She's helped me out of a few really tight spots, but well, let's get on with the profiles.

Koizumi Itsuki

He looks like he could be a popular model, and is always smiling. In fact, he pretty much agrees with anything you have to say. It's really annoying. Why does he keep touching me?

Other Characters

Asahina Mikuru

The mascot character of the SOS Brigade, and Haruhi's plaything. She looks great in just about anything. If she were ever hurt, anyone with an ounce of a man's soul would protect her! The last remaining Brigade member.

Asakura Ryouko

A beautiful, caring classmate with great grades, high popularity, and a dazzling smile. She looks like she wouldn't hurt a fly. :D!. . . . :D!

Tsuruya

A hyperactive girl with a fang. A good friend of Mikuru's and a popular minor character.
Not to be confused with Churuya:

From a fan-made comic about chibi-Tsuruya who loves smoked cheese.

Kyon's Sister

Why does she have a single? This isn't fair. It's her fault the "Kyon" nickname is so popular. By the way, if someone brings her to zombie camp, I, Kyon, will kill them.

Taniguchi and that other guy

If you've seen WA WA WA WAsure mo - memes on 4chan, it's this guy's fault. One of a pair of Kyon's friends. I totally can't find the other guy.

Setting

The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi is actually set in 2009. This makes the "incident from three years ago," the "time crash" and the "information explosion" coincide with the release of the anime, and the growth of popularity of the series on television and on the internet.
