We've been to the opening concert of a classic music festival. They built a big open air place with star tangled scene and a lot of seats which were all occupied. This will be a big concurrence for Bodrum. We took Gaye - how much she enjoys to go out! - and Salih and met Gökhan and the English couple we went to the island last year. The program was sweet Turkish: first an operetta bit, then Paganini with Russian violinist Alexander Markov - he looked like Kâmil but was a real virtuoso -, then songs like "Don't cry for me Argentina" and "O sole mio" with Baritone and Soprano, in the end a big firework . And then we sat in Çarşı and ate Hamburgers (with Gaye, and Salih) or we sat in "Sofra" in Akyarlar (with Füsun and Salih) and ate Işkembe...
Next programmes were with famous pianists, Gülsin Onay and Idil Bret (who had the most encores), playing Caikovski and Bach. Much people! And we met friends (like always now), I enjoyed to see Gabra with her husband. We saw Semin's ship on dock, a strong, short, blue white motor yacht. She needs the waves around her! And from another ship, old gulet "Stefania one"" owners listened to the concerts like from a loge. The air was mild and the sky like velvet. Moon, Venus and Mars stood near together.
"I have been told that the theme of Classic Music Festival is "love and peace". I believe that this theme carries with it a very special meaning. I wholeheartedly believe that this festival will help make a society which believes more in peace, is sensitive to social problems, is spiritually healthier. This is because peace is a state of spiritual virtue. It creates a sense of security in our souls. Moreover love is the energy source of life, it grows as it is shared. What we want is to share our love and by doing so add to the peace of society and its happiness." (Aytaç Yalman)
