History
Mercenaries
Starting as a mercernary group founded by the Lovedash's (Jack and Justin) the Black Wolves thrived in the adventurer ridden land of Treegum, to the point that the rising group was noticed by the then friendly Imperial Legion. The Black Wolves were taken under the Emperor's wing as an imperial funded special operations division.
The Drow War
The first major imperial action that the Black Wolves were directly, and arguably imperative too was the infamous Drow War. After the taking of Treegum, the Black Wolves as well as manyo f the adventurers and surviving townsfolk setup camp in the Eveningfall Forest. As the imperials were for the most part busy laying plans for a retaking of the town, the Black Wolves were unofficially put in charge of policing the camp. However, eventually the Imperium called the Black Wolves for a different cause, the retaking of Treegum.
The Retaking of Treegum
The Black Wolves were put in charge at first of taking and holding one of the few poorly defended fronts into the town, the old merchanting area of the city. After taking it, the Wolves defended the front from drow, spider, and troll attacks until the invasion proper started almost a year later. During the retaking proper, the Wolves were put in charge of clearing the drow out from house to house, cleaning out at times houses they used to sleep and drink at as they drove the drow back into their holes, which they unceremoniously sealed off for good.
Post Drow
After the drow wars, the Wolves were put back onto different special cases that the imperium was unwilling or at times unable to take care of. From the defense of a series of lumbering missions, to continuing the old task of policing the town, the Wolves simply became another part of the Imperium again for a time.
The Rise of Galigas, and Internal Betrayal
During the initial rise of Galigas as demon emperor of the Imperium, he was of course celebrated as any emperor would be, and all seemed well. However during those dark times, Galigas began working his magic on the higher ranking members of the Imperial Legion, and the Black Wolves were no exception. Gerad Vizaga, and many of his officers, captains, and lieutenants were put under spells, or were nonmagically brainwashed to believing in the new emperor as he launched more wars against the Greenskins, reinforced the towns walls, and gave an uneasy feeling of fear to the populace to keep them in line. After a while the truth came out to some of the lower ranking Black Wolves and other assorted legionnaries, and a small covert resistance was founded long before the Rough Riders. They planned assassinations and covert sabotage at first, but begot little success out of these measures. However, the Captain and cofounder of the Black Wolves, Jack Lovedash, quickly rallied a large faction of supporters in a region were dissent agains the emperor had been slowly growing. This became the modern day Black Wolves, replacements of the Imperial Guards as protectors of the Treegum, and the first formidable force in the amassing anti-Imperium alliance.
