Apache Hadoop

Hadoop is an open source framework for distributed computation and data replication that enables the storage and processing of large data sets in clustered environments.

The nodes in the cluster build the Hadoop Distributed File System HDFS.

The Hadoop project released version 1.0.0 on 27th December, 2011. Version 1.0.0 is stated to be a production ready version of the software.
